Student writers of Araullo University - PHINMA who attended the recently concluded News Writing and Press Workshop. |
Sandigan, the University’s official student publication, looks forward to a major transformation as the Center for Student Development and Leadership (CSDL) initiates changes in the school paper, with the name Viewpoint defining its reinvention.
CSDL’s Student Welfare and Community
Involvement (SWCI) coordinator Darren J. Gonzales proposed to modify the identity,
format and the system of the publication together with the existing members of
its editorial board as well as a new breed of writers; he believes that the
school paper is “our product”, a reflection of the students’ potentials as
individuals and the University’s accomplishment of its vision and mission.
As a headstart, the CSDL conducted a Basic
News Writing and Press Workshop last July 8 under the mentorship of Mr. Joseph
G. Navarro, Public Relations, Communications and Events Officer of Caritas
Manila, Inc.
Aside from trainings on campus
journalism as part of the intended improvement, Viewpoint will be brought to an
online platform through a blog to conform with the students’ inclination to
social media as well as elicit instant feedback from them. Darren Gonzales
