Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA), AU-PHINMA Chapter took charge of Operation Ahon last August 7 to 9 during the downpour caused by the southwest monsoon. JPIA members and officers, headed by chapter president Nikko Carlo de Leon, gathered donations using text messaging and social media. Donations were forwarded to partner institutions which then distributed the goods to the affected areas.
According to de Leon, the program was organized to promote social responsibility and to help people in the affected areas recover from the flood brought about by the habagat. Celina Castillo
