Kabanata

This is the 6th poem for 13b42013 Poetry Series.

Kabanata
Joanne Carla De Tumol

Hindi namamalayan
Ngunit magtatapos nanaman
Ang isang taong punong magagandang samahan
At di malilimutang pagkakaibigan

Mentors unite for Educ Fest

Themed as “Best Teachers for Good Education: A Possible Dream”, the respectable future teachers of the College of Education (COE) moved out of their comfort zones as they celebrated the annual Education Fest last October 5 and 6. According to COE-SC Governor Edward Rodriguez, the said event was conceptualized to foster camaraderie between the Education students, showcase their talents and skills, bolster their confidence, and give them a breather from the demands of university life.

A eucharistic mass was officiated at the AU Chapel in the morning of October 5, followed by talent competitions such as Talentadong Mentors and Education Idol; Academic competitions like Essay Writing, Declamation, Oration, Scrabble, Word Factory, Quiz Bee, and Poster Making were also held. The 6th Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony for seniors were held in the evening having Division Schools Superintendent of Cabanatuan City Dr. Esperanza Laya, CESO V as the guest speaker.

On the following day, men’s basketball and badminton comprised the sports competitions. The most awaited event, the pageant, was also held on the same day: Mr. Rex Almazan, 4th year, and Ms. Caselyn Javate, 3rd year, were crowned as Mr. and Ms. Education 2012. Education students got together and capped the celebrations with the children’s party-themed Education Night wherein pad paper and pencils served as entrance fee. The proceeds will be donated to the College’s adopted schools. Joanne Carla de Tumol

Yuppies celebrate CMAzing Days

Themed as L.I.F.E. (Leading with Integrity For Excellence), the CMAzing Days gave students under the College of Management and Accountancy (CMA) a well-deserved break with its different academic and non-academic competitions from September 5 to 8. According to CMA Governor Arvie Suarez, the annual college fest aims to promote camaraderie and sportsmanship among its four divisions: Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA), Business Management students (Junior Marketing Association or JMA, and Junior Banker’s Club or JBC), and Hotel and Tourism Management Society (HTMS).

During the first two days, a trade fair conducted by the CMA organizations served as an avenue for fund-raising and also as an intro for CMAzing days. The following Friday and Saturday were dedicated for volleyball, table tennis, badminton, and women’s basketball as well as for other events such as general information quiz bee, essay writing, public speaking, scrabble, word factory, scrapbook making, poster making, avatar, hip-hop dance, and yell competition. Also, the Amazing Race-inspired X-Challenge gathered the Yuppies for a series of fun, thrilling tasks.

The night of September 7 saw Gabriel Stephen Fernandez and Kimberly Santos, both Accounting Technology students, crowned as Mr. and Ms. CMA 2012.

Finally, the college culminated the fest with the CMA Night Fever on its 4th day, wherein JPIA was declared as the Gods (overall champion), Business Management students as the Warriors (2nd place), and HTMS as the Merchants (3rd place). Denise Elizabeth Gutierrez, Joanne Carla de Tumol
