A Showcase of Skills
As part of the event, students from the different colleges displayed their academic and performing prowess through the Quiz Bee, Street Dance Competition, and Pasiklaban.

Warriors Edd Jonh Miranda, Ceddie Ariquez, and George Pepito Ariquez III towed College of Criminology (COC) to the Quiz Bee championship. Chieftains Dan Kevin Roque, Bryan Joseph Peralta, and Jan Jefferson Cristobal clinched the second place for College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), while the trio of Jonah Reyes, Jaycris Agnes, and Luijim Jose of the College of Education (COE) placed third in the said competition held on the first day.

In the Street Dance competition, the College of Education (COE) wowed the crowd with their performance and emerged as champions. Basic Education (BEd) students did not let up though, as they took the 1st Runner-Up plum; 2nd Runner-Up College of Nursing (CON) completed the cast of winners.

Mentors consolidated their earlier victory by also taking the crown for Pasiklaban, while College of Management and Accountancy (CMA) and College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) were hailed 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.

Beating the Summer Heat
On the second-day, February 22, the colleges brought summer’s fun spirit into the campus grounds by putting up their respective booths, each themed with a popular summer destination showcasing the beauty of the Philippines.

CON’s creative portrayal of the Cebu scenery clinched the championship; while College of Information Technology and Engineering (CITE) snagged the 1st Runner-up with their realistic and faithful reproduction of the wind turbines of Bangui, Ilocos Norte; and COC’s convincing replica of Puerto Princesa Underground River landed 2nd Runner-up.

Rewarding Excellent Service
Last February 6, students once again voted for their favorite teachers and non-teaching staff for the Hawak Kamay Students Choice Awards.

In between Pasiklaban performances, the Marketing Department, together with the AUSSG, awarded Anna Kristel Cuevas (COE), Ronald Leabres (CMA), Mercedes Batalla (CAS), May Miguel (COC), Eldon Lim (CITE), Toni Marie Buenconsejo - Punzalan  (CON), Mylene Bandril (BEd), Roxanne Eduardo (CMA), Frankie Sembrano (Guidance and Counseling Office), and Mary Grace Ricio (CSDL) as the most exemplary employees of the University. Day Camp OVERLOAD

“Nothing money can buy can equal the value of the things we learned in the camp,” says Maricris Rufino, one of the participants of CAS Day Camp.
Day Camps are truly unique Araullian experiences very much anticipated by students: For them, the camp is wrapped up with the excitement of personal upliftment and the thrill of new adventures. The students embarked on their journey of self-discovery with the help from the Facilitators, staff and faculty of Araullo University-PHINMA specially trained to help students understand themselves better, and cope with University life: Edwin Siborboro, Maria Buena Magdalena Ruiz, Ana Kristel Cuevas, Toni Marie Punzalan, Evelyn Juliano, John Leabres, Salvador Collado Jr., Alex Ramirez, Frankie Sembrano, John Michael Esquivel, Mary Grace Ricio, Maui Panapanaan, Mark Santos, Ariane Cawed, Arvelo Vicente, Alexander Reyes, John Bernardino, Marphel De Lara and Darren Gonzales comprised the talented group.
Six colleges joined the camps which replaced the annual university fixture, Palarong au: cma had their respective Day Canps last September 12 (HRM), September 27 (BSBA), and October 9 (BSA); CAS on September 14; CON last September 26; COC on October 1, 2, and 3; COE last October 4; and CITE on October 5 and 12.
“I learned how to handle my stress. Though I am tired, I always bear a smile on my face; it is my way to inspire my students,” says Mr. Alexander Reyes, one of the facilitators of Day Camps. Truly, the Day Camp experience is beneficial to student-participants and facilitators alike.
The camp is the perfect environment for the students to learn about things they haven’t experienced before: It is an avenue for the students to excel and shine. Bringing the student-participants to face their fears, the camp also provides an exceptional opportunity for students to do things they think they can’t, and to labor to achieve their best.
Camp activities are geared to promote personal development, encourage students to step outside of their comfort zones, and help build leadership, communication, and cooperation skills. AU-PHINMA believes that the camps are instrumental for the holistic development of the studentry; a worthy replacement for the annual Palarong au, despite the cost and the extent of work entailed. Chieftains join the Green Project

College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) students went all green in Sitio Alorma, Palayan City last two Fridays, September 7 and 14. Together with their NSTP Instructors, John Bernardino and Pauline de Leon, CASNSTP1 and CASNSTP14 planted seven hundred fruit-bearing and native trees on over a hectare of land in the first excursion that was graced by the presence of Chief Operations Officer and Executive Vice President Ms. Ana S. Chua.

For the second visitation, CASNSTP5 and CASNSTP20, together with Social Sciences head Dr. Fidela Aban, conducted a maintenance and protection session as they helped in ring-weeding, checking the planted seedlings, and cleaning up the site. According to Forester Orvel Pagaduan of CENRO, maintaining a 1-meter radius of weed-free soil is essential to ensure the health of the newly-planted seedlings. He also said that continuous maintenance is necessary to guarantee the successful restoration of the deforested area, hence creating an ecologically sustainable resource.
