AU conquers PICPA provincials






Araullo University came out on top as Mhel John Legaspi takes home the championship in the Level 1 of the PICPA Accounting Quiz Bowl while Maureen Joyce Angeles emerged as the 2nd-runner up for the Level 2 competition held last July 18 at Wesleyan University-Philippines.


Angeles earlier took home the 2nd runner-up plum for the Philippine’s Next Tax Model (Tax Quiz Bee), held last July 17 at Miriam College, Quezon City in celebration of the PICPA-EMMC’s Accountancy Week . Dan Kevin Roque

AU-PHINMA dominates PICPA Regionals



Accountancy students brought honor again to the University as they took home the bacon in the recently concluded PICPA (Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants) Regional Accounting Quiz Bowl held at the Central Luzon State University last September 8.

3rd Year BSA students Maureen Joyce Angeles and Leo Niño Punzalan won in the Level 1 category as champion and 1st runner-up respectively while Aslainie Sultan, 4th year BSA student, won 2nd runner-up in the Level 2. JPIA – AU dominates MADA-TAX-CAR


Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) – AU Phinma Chapter prevailed in the accounting jungle as delegates Jakke F, Posadas and Rachel B. Merez both earned places in the MADA-TAX-CAR Survive the Wild: Search for Eastern Metro Manila Chapter (EMMC) Tax Whiz which was held in celebration of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) – EMMC’s Accountancy Week last July 18 at Miriam College, Quezon City.

PICPA NAQDOWN qualifier Merez and fellow Araullian Pozadas took home 2nd and 4th runner-up places respectively among 83 contenders from 44 academes. The top 8 contestants included students from University of the East, Gordon College, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Technological Institute of the Philippines and National College of Science and Technology, with New Era University taking the lead.

Aside from the MADA-TAX-CAR, a seminar was also conducted which tackled recent changes in accounting standards and taxation policies as well as job opportunities in the accountancy field. Dan Kevin Roque

AU-PHINMA lords over PICPA Showdown



PICPA declares AU-PHINMA the over-all champion in the recently concluded Accounting Quiz Showdown.  The event, an inter-school quiz bee competition, aims to maintain academic excellence and promote friendly competition among JPIAns.

Held at Wesleyan University – Philippines last July 17, 2012, the annual event divided into two levels (Level 1 and 2) is participated by six of the top colleges and universities in Cabanatuan.

The winners for level 1 are Leo Niño Punzalan (Champion-AU), Maureen Joyce Angeles (1st Runner up- AU) and General De Jesus College (2nd Runner up). The winners for level 2 are Aslainie Sultan (Champion-AU), College of Immaculate Conception (1st Runner up) and General De Jesus College (2nd Runner up).

Merez: Central Luzon’s Sole Qualifier for PICPA NAQDOWN




AU – PHINMA’s College of Management and Accountancy takes pride in the success of its 4th year BS Accountancy student Rachel B. Merez as she placed 4th runner-up during the 5th Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants National Accounting Quiz Showdown (PICPA NAQDOWN) Luzon Eliminations held at PICPA National Office in Mandaluyong City last July 15.

Merez, the only qualifier from Central Luzon, competed with 63 participants coming from colleges and universities and will vie for a place in the competition’s final round on October 23 to 26 at Davao City.


PICPA NAQDOWN, which covers CPA Board related subjects, took place concurrently in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao in cooperation with the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NFJPIA). Ma. Gladys Repollo
