AU-PHINMA joins NGP culmination

Araullo University - PHINMA culminated the Green Project by participating in the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) – Nueva Ecija Chapter’s Oplan Broadcastreeing, as part of the National Greening Project (NGP) of DENR-CENRO. The said undertaking was held at the NGP Site, Sitio Bacao, Doña Josefa, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija last October 13.

Students from various university organizations participated in the said event: Araullo University Supreme Student Government (AUSSG), Araullo University Student Assistants Association (AUSAA), Araullo University Political Science Student Organization (AUPSSO), College of Education Student Council (COE-SC), PHINMA Scholars, and Presidential Scholars  comprised the group led by Alexis G. Basic Ed, AUPA fight for nature; COC, CAS continue the Green Project initiative

The Basic Education Department (Basic Ed.), together with the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), took part in the fight against global warming and climate change through the Green Project held at Sitio Alorma, Doña Josefa, Palayan City last September 21. More than 100 students planted narra seedlings in the said activity; they were led by Basic Ed. Dean Corazon Esguerra, Language Department Head Shirley Pajarillo, and University Discipline Coordinator John Paul Vicencio.

Members of the Araullo University Performing Arts (AUPA) and seniors from the College of Criminology (COC) engaged in the same activity last September 28. They were accompanied by AUPA Director Michael John Esteban, COC faculty member Randy Maure, Guidance Counselor Alexis Ramirez, and Forester August Fariñas.

Chieftains join the Green Project

College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) students went all green in Sitio Alorma, Palayan City last two Fridays, September 7 and 14. Together with their NSTP Instructors, John Bernardino and Pauline de Leon, CASNSTP1 and CASNSTP14 planted seven hundred fruit-bearing and native trees on over a hectare of land in the first excursion that was graced by the presence of Chief Operations Officer and Executive Vice President Ms. Ana S. Chua.

For the second visitation, CASNSTP5 and CASNSTP20, together with Social Sciences head Dr. Fidela Aban, conducted a maintenance and protection session as they helped in ring-weeding, checking the planted seedlings, and cleaning up the site. According to Forester Orvel Pagaduan of CENRO, maintaining a 1-meter radius of weed-free soil is essential to ensure the health of the newly-planted seedlings. He also said that continuous maintenance is necessary to guarantee the successful restoration of the deforested area, hence creating an ecologically sustainable resource. Basic Ed launches Seedling Bank

The Basic Education department inaugurated the Seedling Bank last August 24 at the Araullo University Gymnasium.

Students from kindergarten up to 4th year high school, together with their advisers, participated in the program. Assisted by the Sci-Tech Club officers with their adviser Ms. Gladys Gumabao, each student brought at least two seedlings and provided their own materials needed for planting. John Michael Hipolito, Sci-Tech Club President, then gave a lecture on “How Seeds Grow?”

COC plants 1,100

The College of Criminology broke records after they planted 1,100 narra seedlings in a single outing for AU-PHINMA’s Green Project last August 24 at Sitio Alorma, Palayan City.

COC students and faculty participated on the project in cooperation with the Civil Military Operations Office of Fort Magsaysay-Aviation led by Captain Eric Igat. The seedlings were part of the 55,000 provided by the DENR-CENRO for the National Greening Program (NGP) through Mr. Alberto Agonoy, Treasurer of Pinagbigkis Cooperative.

CMA and Presidential Scholars Go Green

College of Management and Accountancy (CMA) students, Presidential Scholars, and student journalists open up the doors to a greener future as they take part on Araullo University – PHINMA’s “The Green Project 2.0”. The said event was done in accordance with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) National Greening Program (NGP) held at Sitio Alorma, Doña Josefa, Palayan City last July 28, 2012.

Led by Forester and Chief Protection Officer of CENRO-Cabanatuan, August V. Fariñas, the AU students, specifically, members of Junior Marketing Association, Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – AU Chapter, Hospitality and Tourism Management Society, Junior Banker’s Club, Presidential Scholars, ViewPoint, and faculty participated on the tree growing initiative as part of the 430-hectare wide reforestation of the said location. On that day alone, a total of 500 Narra seedlings were planted on a hectare of land through the joint efforts of CMA and CON students, faculty, and CSDL staff.

Started last July 13, 2012, the project aims to plant 5000 trees across a ten-hectare area over a year. According to Darren J. Gonzales, Student Welfare and Community Involvement (SWCI) Unit Coordinator, the Green Project is an advocacy of the University not only to raise environmental awareness but also to encourage Araullians to actively join the crusade for a greener country.
